One-Line Bio

We're four people trying to walk 10,000 steps a day for our health and happiness.

Biography

My name is Alicia, I am from the Midwest, and I am a mom of two. My starting weight was 215 lbs. and my goal weight is around the 125 lbs. area. I plan to reach that goal in a little less than a year’s time, give or take a few weeks. I love to read, write, ride horseback, drink coffee and browse bookstores…but what I love the most is to eat. Mostly I love to eat chocolate, but I am an equal opportunity kind of gal: pizza, curried chicken, bean sprouts, even tofu. If it looks half-way interesting and is thoroughly dead, then I’ll give it a try.

My enthusiasm for food has been difficult to curb and has proven to be the most challenging aspect of the program. On the other hand, the best part of this program is that my body and my thinking have already changed for the better, even without a big weight loss. I am very excited by what I have experienced so far and can’t wait to see even better results as I continue the 10,000 step program!

I'm Ashley-- my starting weight was 144 lb., and my goal weight is 135ish (anywhere within 2 lb. is fine with me). I love to read, watch movies, snuggle with my boyfriend, cook (esp. cookies, cupcakes, and bread), and eat (I love cuban food, Indian food-- really anything spicy). For me, the best thing about the 10,000 Steps plan is how the morning walks really help me clear my head-- and are a much nicer way to wake up than knifing through LA traffic. I hate that I have to wake up at 6 am for that little slice of serenity. Diet has always been an "issue" for me... so portion control, not obsessing about food, and not drinking too much dark beer are challenges. Thanks for visiting! I'm trying not to let myself, or my fellow walkers, down!

My name is Jessee. My starting weight was somewhere around 265, and I am hoping to weigh in at 208 pounds in just over a year. This is due to claims that you should lose only a pound a week—but that has not been my experience so far! I love to cook—and more importantly—I love to eat anything that does not eat me first. I spend a lot of time online "working", practicing the tuba (I am a seven year music major, after all), developing business plans with my wife (which we call "hanging out together"), and playing with my beautiful Irish Wolfhounds. My favorite part about this program is that it has changed the way I think about my life. I now look forward to the day when
walking will be more than a mini-adventure and a way to shake the pounds; I hope to become a serious hiker before I am thirty! The toughest part of the program is making a conscious effort to squeeze the walks into my already hectic schedule. I am no time-management pro, but I am a work in progress!

My name is Mike, (also known as Shmoe) my starting weight was around 300 or so, I don't really have a goal weight, I want to just lose as much as I can. I love to listen, and make music, watch and play sports like Baseball and Basketball, goto movies, watch TV, and hang out with my friends. Probably my favorite thing about the 10,000 steps program, is the peace and quiet I get while walking. I really get to relax, and just focus on what I need to do. Definitely the hardest part of the 10,000 steps program is watching what I eat. Thanks for stopping by, and keep reading all the wonderful blogs here. Bye
